ABOUT THIS COLLECTION

Cousin Jack Suit Separates

Cousin Jack suit separates are the pieces of a classic three-piece suit, sold one at a time and cut in matching colours: waistcoats, high-waisted fishtail back trousers, peg trousers and plus fours, and a Midnight suit jacket. Wear them together and you have a suit. Leave the jacket off and you have a shirt, braces and a waistcoat, which is a smart outfit in its own right.

What is meant by suit separates?

A suit usually means a matching jacket, waistcoat and trousers sold together in one size. Suit separates (also called tailored or suiting separates) are those pieces sold individually, so you can choose the right size for each one, wear them together as a suit or break them up and wear each with the rest of your wardrobe.

How do you style suit separates?

Keep the cloth or the colour the same for the three-piece look, or break the set up for something more relaxed, such as a herringbone waistcoat over charcoal twill trousers, or the Midnight jacket with contrasting trousers. Every pair of trousers has buttons for braces, and the traditional rule is to leave the bottom waistcoat button undone. You can wear a tie with suit separates, too: the Casual Spear Collar Shirt is made to take one, while Tommy's collarless shirts are worn without.

If you would like the same pieces grouped as suiting, see our suits.
